Welcome to Part 2 of Glory to the most HIGH post. If you haven’t had the chance to read our Part 1 post, you can do so by clicking here.
I hope you enjoy this entry as much as I have enjoyed writing it. 🙂
Life in the Spirit
Because of Jesus Christ, life in the Spirit has enabled us to remain in God’s will. In Romans 8, Paul has written down the things that happen when we receive the gift of freedom. Of course these things don’t just happen automatically, we can be intentional by interrogating our thoughts and accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and saviour.
How do you practice reconnecting with God in your daily life?
Below are the points I have derived from Romans 8 which may inform us on how to keep rekindling God’s will & please Him in our lives:
- We are now in Christ Jesus: this is something we need to remember, hope in and declare over our lives (Romans 8:1; Hebrews 3:6 NLT).
- We don’t face any condemnation: because we are in Christ, He has already paid the penalty of sin for us, the Spirit may convict us of our sin but the enemy condemns us of our sin, that’s the difference (Romans 8:1 NLT).
- The power of the life-giving Spirit has freed us from the power of sin and death: we may sin, however, the sinful nature we are born with no longer has power over us, it no longer has control over our minds. We can choose to have thoughts which please the Lord (Romans 8:2 NLT).
- We live in the Spirit: Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives (Romans 8:11; Galatians 5:25 NLT).
- We allow the Holy Spirit to control our minds (Romans 8:6 NLT).
- We think and do things which please the Spirit (Romans 8:5; Galatians 6:8 NLT).
- We have been made right with God (Romans 8:10b NLT)
Conclusion
In hindsight, what I have been leading to is that; it is so easy for us to profess we are doing things to glorify God meanwhile we are not. It is simple to want to do what is right and don’t, and all that happens to all of us and it is more common to happen than we think, because ultimately we are sinners.
What’s great about this is that God constantly reminds us of how we need Him and how we cannot do anything without Him. I honestly can’t do anything good unless God is fully involved and prunes me along the way.
All glory belongs to Him because we cannot do anything without Him. The moment we realise that will be the moment we proclaim His glory and mean it.
I leave you with this:
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you.
No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
(John 15:1-8 NIV)
